Overview
As a leading police organization in the Western Hemisphere, the Colombian National Police (CNP) actively works to constantly improve its service, while also sharing its knowledge with regional counterparts across Latin America and the Caribbean. Efforts are underway to continue improving the basic and in-service training of professional/technical police personnel to enable the CNP to meet the safety and security needs of Colombia and its citizens.
Project
In support of the U.S. Department of State Bureau of International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs (INL), SCG is working alongside the CNP’s National Directorate of Schools (DINAE) to assess areas for improvement and offer advice and practices to enhance the basic training curriculum of front-line personnel. Activities include:
- Identifying international best practices for the basic training curriculum.
- Conducting an assessment of classroom and scenario-based training.
- Implementing assessment recommendations to strengthen the basic officer curriculum.
