Program Manager

About the Position

Strategic Capacity Group (SCG) is seeking to hire an experienced Program Manager to lead a complex, global corrections training program at multiple locations in the United States and internationally. This position will report to the Director of Programs, manage a Deputy Program Manager and project staff, and be based at SCG’s headquarters in McLean, VA. The Program Manager is responsible for the timely and high-quality delivery of 50-60 trainings annually in accordance with grant/donor requirements. The Program Manager will be responsible for managing activities and risk in the following areas: stakeholders, project and resources integration, costs/budgets, schedules, procurement, and reporting. To be successful within a cross-functional fast paced environment, the Program Manager will require exceptional planning and coordination/integration skills. The Program Manager will be responsible for maintaining communications and collaborating with officials at the US Department of State, recognized law enforcement/corrections institutions at the State level, and similar international counterparts. 

Required Qualifications, Skills, and Experience

The ideal candidate will have: 

  • At least ten years of portfolio/project management experience. 
  • A strong record of experience managing portfolios or projects, ideally in multiple countries and involving senior stakeholders or practitioners from across the world. Relevant experience includes substantive work in the following:  project planning and implementation, scheduling, budget management, resourcing, cross-team integration, and reporting. 
  • Knowledge of federal grant guidelines (2CFR 200). 
  • Effective communications skills, including experience engaging with high level government officials (e.g., corrections, police, ministry of interior, ministry of justice). 
  • The ability to produce exceptional quality reports and products.
  • Excellent planning and team management skills. 
  • Be willing to be located at SCG’s McLean, VA offices and travel domestically. Some international travel may be required. 
  • Hold a master’s degree in political science, international relations, business administration, or a related/relevant discipline. PMP certification highly preferred. 
  • Salary $100,000 - $120,000 commensurate with experience.
